Your Guide to Dollywood Family Fun

Hey moms! Whether you’re balancing work deadlines, soccer practice, or just trying to get a decent meal on the table, I know your time is precious. If you’re planning a family getaway anytime soon, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, offers an unforgettable experience for kids and teens alike.

I recently visited with my teen daughter and elementary-aged son, and we had a blast. Today, I’m sharing time management tips and top kid-friendly venues within Dollywood to help you make the most of your visit.

Tip #1: Use Apps to Maximize Your Dollywood Family Fun

For busy moms, some of the best tools at your disposal are free time management tools like the Dollywood app and the KFV app. These handy apps let you plan the best places to visit, find showtimes within Dollywood, check ride wait times, and even place mobile orders at several restaurants around the park. These tools will help you maximize your vacation days.

Tip #2: Find Kid-Friendly Attractions at Dollywood

On our recent visit, we started our morning at the Spotlight Bakery just inside the park. We were able to snag a freshly baked loaf of Dollywood’s famous cinnamon bread! All you have to do is search for it on the internet, and you will find that this sweet treat is massive, so you won’t want to miss it! You can also get a loaf at the Grist Mill, deeper inside the park.

    Wildwood Grove and Country Fair

Our next item on the agenda was rides, of course. Dollywood is packed with rides that are perfect for both little kids and big kids. In the Wildwood Grove section, Big Bear Mountain offers a fun and exciting adventure that’s just the right level of thrill for younger children. For a more classic carnival experience, don’t miss the Country Fair section, where you can enjoy rides like the Dizzy Disk and Amazing Flying Elephants.

    Teenage Thrills and Food Delights

If you have older kids like I do, you’re going to want to pay attention to the teen offerings. Teens often crave a bit more excitement, and Dollywood delivers with its array of thrilling roller coasters. From the heart-pounding twists and turns of Wild Eagle to the high-speed thrills of Mystery Mine, there’s plenty to keep your teenagers entertained all day long.

After all those thrilling rides, you and your kids are bound to work up an appetite. Dollywood offers a variety of food options to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Whether they’re in the mood for hearty Southern BBQ at Aunt Granny’s Restaurant or craving something sweet like a funnel cake, there’s something for everyone.

Many restaurants also have allergy-friendly items, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for those if someone in your family has a need. We had pizza, which is always a family favorite!

    Gazillion Bubbles Show

Once we’d ridden lots of rides and satisfied our hungry tummies, we were ready for something a little more chill. If your little ones love bubbles, they’ll be absolutely mesmerized by the Gazillion Bubbles Show. This high-energy performance features millions of bubbles of all shapes and sizes, creating a magical atmosphere that will leave your kids wide-eyed and full of wonder. We were able to sit in the air conditioning and rest our feet, and we loved the show!

The Imagination Playhouse at Heartsong Theater

For a quieter, more relaxing experience, head to the Heartsong Theater. Storybooks come to life in performances called The Imagination Playhouse. This is a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy some downtime while still keeping your kiddos entertained. We had this one on the itinerary, but never made it over to catch the performance. There’s always next time.

Tip #3: Practical Tips for a Smooth Visit

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable day of Dollywood Family Fun, here are a few essentials:

    • Snacks: Keep hunger at bay and save money by bringing along some snacks.
    • Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so make sure everyone has good, comfortable shoes.
    • Sunscreen: Protect your family’s skin from the sun with plenty of sunscreen. Reapply throughout the day, especially after water rides.
    • Motion Sickness Medicine: If anyone in your family is prone to motion sickness, bring along some medicine just in case.
    • Get Your Kids Measured: Get small children measured just inside the entrance of the park. They’ll be given a bracelet that will get them entry to various rides depending on their height. This can save a lot of frustration and disappointment later on.

Tip #4: Check out the Mom’s Tribute Blog!

Before you go, make sure to check out other posts on the Mom’s Tribute blog. It’s full of heartfelt stories, practical advice, and community support for busy moms just like you.

When it comes to getting away, Dollywood truly offers a perfect blend of fun, excitement, and relaxation for the entire family. With its kid-friendly attractions, thrilling rides for teens, and practical tools to help you plan your day, it’s a destination that promises to create lasting memories. We rank it as one of the best places for Dollywood Family Fun!
