You are a working mom and you could do with a recommendation for a spectacular super-soak showdown location to spend some Paid Time Off (PTO) on a warm summer’s day with your kids. Look no further! If it is within my power, I will give you a top blog about working moms with kids from babies to teens, because that is what I am too.

I want to help your time management by lessening your research time. A super-soak showdown can make your PTO feel more fun, active, and memorable. It also gives you and your kids a simple way to enjoy the summer together.

    My personal recommendation

I personally recommend Raging Waves Waterpark, Illinois’ largest waterpark. Located in Yorkville, a short drive from Chicago, this water park spans across 58 acres, making it a sprawling playground for water lovers from babies to the biggest kids of all.Raging Waves is only 45 minutes west of Chicago. With attractions that are geared to kids of all ages from babies to teens, there is something for everyone so your journey will not be in vain.

The park opens daily at 10 am, but expect to wait in line for the parking lot kiosks to open before entering the park, while they make sure you are adhering to the waterpark’s strict bag policy. Each bag is thoroughly searched by security and must meet the “see through” and “size” standards.

    Planning

When planning for your trip to the park, bear in mind that the waterpark is a “cashless” location, which may be important when the kids are tweens and you are dropping them off for a day of fun with friends. And while security-tagged, small, soft-sided coolers ARE allowed (containing only plastic water bottles and ice), you may not bring in food or other snacks. There are plenty of options available on site to dine for lunch.

Options, ranging from quick bites to full meals, are easy to find. There are two kid-friendly restaurants and several snack huts. However, you may decide to keep a cooler in the car and eat lunch with the kids in the parking lot for a picnic.

This is a cost-effective option, but just remember not to leave the parking lot, and always make sure you get your hand stamped prior to exiting the park. After having your lunch, you might like to choose Quokka-Nut Island which is kid-approved and kid-requested, and is geared specifically to the littlest of guests. With more slides, more play features, and more fun for the Lil’ Mates, this attraction is a welcome new addition.

These fun and exciting kid-friendly features will give the lil’ mates (under 54″ tall) the chance to explore the land of the Quokka! Our kids splashed on over to meet some Raging Waves’ furry friend mascots. Photo opportunity for sure!

Some other fun attractions to keep on your radar:

The Kangaroo Falls has a four-story water fort that is full of super-soaking fun for everyone. Slides, bridges, and a giant bucket that periodically dumps 750 gallons of water is a highlight of the day. Kiddos need a minimum height of 36” for the slides. Just hanging out in this attraction was a great place for us to cool off from the sun!

The Aussie Mat Dash: Challenge your older kids to a thrilling race down this multi-lane slide, where you’ll zip through twists and turns to see who can reach the finish line first. The Boomerang is an exhilarating slide that sends riders swooping down a steep drop and then up a massive wall before racing back down again.

The Cyclone is a must among the teens, as this slide offers a high-speed descent through enclosed tunnels and sharp turns, providing a rush like no other. And the most relaxing part of the day… The Wave Pool and Lazy River… when we wanted to take a break from the slides and relax in the wave pool or float along the gentle currents of the lazy river, and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere.

To add a degree of comfort and safety from the hot sun, on our visit we rented a shaded cabana near the Wave Pool and Lazy River. Here we could sit inside and use the table, chairs and loungers. These cabanas come in four sizes and are dotted throughout the park. And convenient locker rentals to keep belongings secure while we enjoyed the attractions were essential.

    Tips for Your Visit

    • Arrive Early: Beat the crowds by arriving to the parking lot about a half hour prior to lot opening most of your day.
    • Stay Hydrated: It’s easy to lose track of time while having fun in the sun, so be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
    • Plan Your Route: Take a look at the park map and plan which attractions you want to visit first to maximize your time. The attractions for the littlest guests are relatively empty after lunch (nap time!)
